Company Interests:
The company: The aim of the BAXI INNOTECH GmbH is to develop and produce a fuel cell micro CHP unit for use in single family houses. The fuel cell heating system will be connected to the natural gas network and will then deliver the required energy in local production, i. e. 75 per cent of the electricity and 100 per cent of the heating , all around the year. BAXI INNOTECH, founded 1999 under the name european fuel , belongs to the BAXI Group Ltd., UK, since 2002, Europe s third largest group within the heating industry.
Development strategy: As a systems integrator, efc aims at a close cooperation with their suppliers and partners, taking influence upon the development of any individual component. All components, modules comprised of them and the complete heating system are put to extensive tests in the laboratory before the heating units proves its capacities in the field.
The road to a successful product: In order to present a competitive fuel cell heating system, it is necessary to test the systems under real life conditions in family homes on location the field test. Potential users such as energy suppliers are integrated in the test phase (since 2005 onwards) and can in this manner carry forward the further development for their own benefit. More than 5,000 operating hours for the fuel cell heating system in the first year is a promising intermediate result and it is still going strong and proving its worth. The early establishment of service and maintenance structures among the specialist installation companies complete the field test. Parallel to this, the production is being developed and organised in the Hamburg location.
