Company / Institution introduction:
The Initiative forms a network with competence in hydrogen and fuel cell technology. Its major goal is to support activities to achieve greater economic viability, assure footing in the market and more widespread application. This is done by research promotion, competence networking, knowledge management, mutual exchanges of information and technology transfer.
The identification and initiation of new project as well as the drafting of integrative development and pilot projects are important features of our work. Furthermore the Initiative has its priorities in promoting research and development projects in companies and institutes and realising the know-how in new products. By aiming at these goals, the Initiative provides a wide variety of services to their members such as project design and initiation, matching partners, helping companies to exploit research findings, negotiating partnerships and consulting the companies.
In Hessia main aspects of the technology are the materials and components industry, also systems for portable and stationary applications of fuel cell technology. Beside this there are greater sources of semi-green hydrogen for the different applications, such as hydrogen as a by-product of huge chemical plants.

Activities and projects:
Each autumn there takes place the most important industrial sector meeting for the region: the Fuel Cell Forum Hessia. It focuses on a specialist audience as well as the broad public. On this day experts provide information about the status of current research and development or exchange user experience. The discussions serve the encouragement and initiation of new projects and applications as well as the formation of new cooperation. In 2008 the topic will be hydrogen, with a focus on green hydrogen.
Zero Regio (Region with zero emissions) is an integrated project co-financed by the European Commission in the 6th Framework Programme. The project comprises of construction and demonstration of hydrogen infrastructure in two European regions, Lombardia and Rhein-Main, for supplying fuel cell passenger cars. The project aims at developing and demonstrating zero emission road transport systems in normal daily use for the European cities. Under the coordination of Infraserv Höchst GmbH & Co KG altogether 16 partners from 4 European member states form the project consortium.
