16th Group Exhibit Hydrogen + Fuel Cells
December 14, 2009
Munich. At the 16th Group Exhibit Hydrogen + Fuel Cells, the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum fuer Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR) will present their fuel cell glider Antares DLR-H2. The Stuttgart-based Institute for Technical Thermodynamics has developed the world’s first piloted aircraft, powered solely by emission-free fuel cell propulsion technology. The Antares DLR-H2 boasts of a cruising range of 750 kilometers, achieved in a flying time of around five hours. The CO2-free glider with a wingspan of 20 meters made its maiden flight on July 7, 2009 in Hamburg, Germany.
“In addition to this highlight we are looking forward to welcoming around 150 international companies and institutions here at Europe’s biggest expo for hydrogen and fuel cell technology,“ says Tobias Renz, Coordinator of the Group Exhibit Hydrogen + Fuel Cells.
In addition to mobile applications such as airplanes and vehicles, fuel cell technology is establishing itself in the stationary power sector (e.g. back-up and off-grid power supply) as well as in portable power for personal appliances. Visitors of the Group Exhibit Hydrogen + Fuel Cells can witness the latest products and innovations from all sectors of this rapidly-growing industry: hydrogen production, fuel cell components, stationary, portable and mobile fuel cells, fuel cell applications, test systems for fuel cells, reformers, hydrogen transport, storage and infrastructure.
Ride + Drive, 2 Forums
Directly outside of Hall 27, trade show visitors can test out fuel cell technology for themselves at the 3000m² Ride + Drive area. Inside the Group Exhibit Hydrogen + Fuel Cells, interested guests can hear presentations, interviews and discussions about this fascinating technology at the two forum areas.
Connecting Renewable Energy and Electro-Mobility
For the first time in 16 years, the Group Exhibit Hydrogen + Fuel Cells will be staged together in one hall with the topic Renewables and with the new trade fair MobiliTec. In Renewables visitors can discover all forms of renewable energy technology such as photovoltaic, solar, geothermal, hydro as well as wind. MobiliTec will include hybrid and electric power systems, battery technology and alternative vehicle concepts.
