Closing press statement

Munich. 130 exhibitors from 20 countries took part in Europe’s biggest hydrogen and fuel cell exhibition in Hanover, Germany. The focal point of the 18th Group Exhibit Hydrogen + Fuel Cells in Hall 27 was the use of hydrogen as a solution to store renewable energy. 50 exhibitors have already committed to participate again in 2013.

The highlights this year included hydrogen generation and refuelling of the hydrogen vehicles on the exhibition grounds. ITM Power, Sheffield, UK produced hydrogen on the spot and demonstrated refuelling of a fuel cell-powered bus. Linde AG, Munich refuelled the fuel cell cars with the hydrogen from a mobile fuelling station. These cars were part of the Ride+Drive fleet available for all trade fair visitors for a test drive.

High-level visits by representatives of politics emphasized the international significance of the Group Exhibit. The EU Commissioner for Climate Action, Connie Hedegaard, and the EU Commissioner for Energy, Günther Oettinger, showed great interest in the demonstrated products. The Minister of Science and Technology of P.R. China, Wan Gang, spent over two hours talking to the exhibitors of the Group Exhibit.

This year for the first time the interviews conducted in the Public Forum were video-recorded and are now available on the YouTube channel of the Group Exhibit:
